I like politics. I try to stay informed. The other day I was listening to Mark Levine on the radio, I generally like what he has to say, if not how he says it. He used a phrase that made me shiver; 'Soft Civil War'. If you missed the show, he wasn't talking about Iraq, he was talking about America. Those words actually kept me from sleeping that night because they sum up what I've been feeling for a long time. I can remember when I used to have Liberal friends, I don't anymore [partly my fault, partly theirs]. I remember when you could talk about issues and not worry about getting into an actual fight. I'm conflicted because I want our country to be more unified, but, I think the current Liberal position might actually destroy our nation. That said, are they the enemy? And, if they are, and we are in a Soft-Civil-War when will it become a hard one?
Does it feel like date-rape? The country is saying as clearly as it can. No, I don't want this. And, the Liberals [and it pains me to say it] our President are forcing something on us we don't want, we've made clear we don't want.
This is the most severe disconnect between a government and its people that I have seen in my lifetime. The representatives we pay to respond to our national will are ignoring it. Sure our friends in talk radio can rouse the troops for a call-in 'surge' but so far that's all we've managed. Do you remember when the Hispanics turned out by the millions and nearly shut down cities? I do. I remember the impact and the images.
Now it's our turn. We need to mobilize and show the will of the people. We need to turn out by the millions and stand up for our rights and our country- before there is nothing left for us to defend.
Help me. Get friends on the team or just get them to join us for a march.
I watch, take a deep breath and try to fight back the feelings that we've lost our way. I listen to the posers extol Reagan's accomplishments and claim them as their own; if only in principle. One after another they use the name of the GREAT COMMUNICATOR as a club, to bruise us into accepting them, as the succesor to him. I don't know what's worse having to vote for someone who thinks they are putting one over on you- or not voting at all.
Can't let the Libs win, but can't support any of the frauds that are running. So, what can we do? I suggest we call the RNC, Heritage, anyone who thinks they are pulling strings behind the scenes and 'Simon Cowell' them. 'Your candidates make me sick' try again. My fervent prayer is that we find someone truly worthy of Conservatives support before 'go-time'. I suppose the saving grace is that we are a ways out...but time is a wasting.
