The Line that cannot be crossed
Intellectual flexibility is not a crime. Neither is an ability to see your opponents arguments and strike a balanced middle ground that lets both parties achieve some progress towards their goals. I personally am more of a fighter than a compromiser, but I do believe that we've become very inflexible in our day to day political decision making. That said, there is a line that cannot and must not be crossed; national security. All of our freedoms, priveledges and pleasures flow from this one critical area. Without a real serious national security policy we can have nothing else. I have come to a point where I am willing to make concessions to Liberals and Democrats on issues that may have an economic or social impact. The quid pro quo is there complete compliance on national security. I believe in a fair trade that will keep the country safe. They are cynical enough to hold our security hostage in order to accomplish small victories along the way. Give them the small victories I say, only if they give us true security.

Not a step backwards
I saw the article on China threatening to use its economic 'Nuclear Option' if we decide to intervene and do what we should have done a long time ago- defend the economic security of the U.S.A. I am a believer in capatalism and appreciate being able to buy what I want when I want. But, if I am forced to choose between more cheap stuff from China, with its associated dangers, and relinquishing our sovereign economic security, I will choose what is best for our country every time.

I know we live in a world where global trade governs a great deal of modern life. Consider me a believe there. But when a country, like China, creates a artificial benefit for themselves, at our expense- I have to ask who is minding the store here. Why have we let ourselves become so addicted to their goods and their money? Isn't it obvious that this could be a par of a plan that they have had in motion for a long time [don't believe me google China War Plan with USA] where they stated that they could and would use economic leverage to ruin us? If our elected leaders have been so blind to this possibility then they are either too stupid to govern, or complicit in economic treason. I for one, am going to buy American from this point forward.

what would you do?
I direct your attention to the Enrage/Engage section of this great website. There you can find a link to a disgraceful MSNBC story, alleging that our Marines executed Iraqi prisoners of war.

Let me give you a snapshot of the story in brief. There is an intense firefight, our guys capture 8 VERIFIED enemy combatants. Men, who moments before were trying to kill them. As they are preparing to transport them, they recieve a call from mission Command instructing them to immediately go to the aid of Marines under fire.

What would you do?

Here are your choices. Let them go, knowing they'll pick up their weapons and rejoin the fight, and maybe kill you this time. Stay there and detain them, and potentially leave your fellow Marines to die. Or kill them.

I say this without shame. I would kill them. The rules that hamstring our soldiers, should not also contribute to their deaths. Under the rules of surrender the captives would leave the battlefield. No thinking person in their right minds would assume that these men would comply with wartime conventions. That said, the alleged decision made by the Marines, is not only the correct one, but the only one.
